Which areas do you cover?

We install and maintain air conditioning in Nueva Andalucia, Puerto Banus, Marbella and all locations on the Costa del Sol.

How does a hot and cold air conditioning unit make heat?

A hot and cold air conditioning system extracts heat from the outside air in the same way that your fridge extracts heat from its inside. It can extract heat from the air outside even when the temperature is as low as 1 to 5 degrees.

The efficiency of hot and cold air conditioning system is measured by a co-efficient of performance (CoP) – the amount of heat they generate compared to the amount of electricity needed to run them. A good quality air conditioning system can have a CoP of around 3 to 1. (which means you can transfer 3 kilowatts of heat for 1 kilowatt of electricity).

What do I need?

The requirements for an air conditioning system on the Costa del Sol will vary between each application and property. Consideration must be made on the area of the room, numbers of windows and lights, number of occupants, induced heat through solar gain and equipment within the room to name but a few.

How does air conditioning work?

On the same principle as your refrigerator but it is split into two parts. The interior unit acting like the cold plate inside the refrigerator, and the exterior unit acting like the warm pipes on the back. Heat is transferred between the two units using a compressor to circulate like a refrigerant.

Does hot or cold air transfer from the exterior unit?

No. the air in your room is recirculated through the interior unit where it passes through filters and a heat exchanger / coil that heats or cools air.

Can you have more than one interior unit to one exterior unit?

Yes. There are a number of different ways of doing this but they have to be designed into the system from the start.

What is split system?

This is the term given to a system that is split into two parts interior and the exterior unit, (unlike a portable unit).

What is a multi-split system?

This is where more than one interior unit are piped seperately to one exterior unit, (usually between two and four units).

What is an invertor system?

The invertor is an electronic device that changes the frequency of the electricity supplied to the compressor motor in the condenser. This gives it speed control linked to its output requirements. Using an invertor also allows the compressor motor to ´soft start´which elimates start up power surge and allows it to run at slower speeds instead of stopping and starting. This greatly increases the life expectancy of the system and reduces the running cost of the machine. Invertor systems are around 40% more efficient than the conventional stop/start systems.
